Certified Coder in
Anesthesia
CCANES™
With the Special Coder Institute, all credential exams are fill-in-the-blank. SCI does not utilize the multiple-choice format as real-world coding is not multiple choice. With the fill-in-the-blank CCANES™ examination, those who have earned the credential with the minimum passing score of 90% have shown they are experts in the field of anesthesia.
The Certified Coder in Anesthesia™ examinee will be tested on:
Selection of correct CPT® and ICD-10-CM codes for surgical cases
Cross walking CPT code selection to the correct ASA code
Correct use of anesthesia modifiers
Calculating time units and total units for anesthesia cases
Rules for incident-to, teaching scenarios, and global surgery package
